detail of Librilla

The City Council of Librilla commemorates on March 8 with a "Tertulia-Snack on Menopause" (24/02/2020)

March 8 is still a day when women have to raise their voices again to denounce that we still have a long way to go to achieve real equality of rights.

Not only for our political organization, but also for the feminist collective in general, it is embarrassing that the Councilor for Women of Librilla, the highest representative of women in this municipality, forget what is the reason why women go out March 8: the vindication of our rights in general and the demand for the adoption of effective measures, by all authorities and institutions, that lead to the achievement of real and effective equality between women and men.

Women only want equal treatment between human beings, without distinctions and imposed classifications.

Once again we have to show, and express our rejection and tiredness, to the use of this vindictive date to program "anything that occurs to political leaders who are unaware of the history of struggle that March 8 entails."

That is why this March 8, women will go back to the streets, accompanied by all those people who believe in real equality, and will protest events throughout the planet, emulating the first women who they made vindicating equality, the suffragists, and also with the memory of the 123 women killed in the Triangle Shirtwaist shirt factory fire in New York in 1909, within the framework of the first labor movements fighting for the improvement of women's rights in the workplace

That is why, we find it unfortunate and shameful that the City Council of Librilla, from its Department of Women, forget the meaning of this day and organize events that have nothing to do with its essence;

So from the Progressive Union for Librilla, and from the Municipal Progressive Group, we express our rejection of acts of this kind within the framework of the feminist mobilizations of March 8, and we call the Councilor for Women, Dolores Galián, to whom Talk include it in a specific health program, comprehensive and non-sexist.

On the other hand, from the Progressive Union for Librilla, we express our public congratulations to the University Professor, Mª Dolores Guillamón López, which has been distinguished by the Department of Women with the "Sali Prize" 2020.
